James T. Edwards, Jr. (Veteran) Resident of Concord, CA Captain James T. Edwards, Jr., USNR, 67, of Concord, CA passed away May 17, 2011 in John Muir Medical Center. A native of Spartanburg County, SC, son of the late James T. and Clara Edwards, formerly of Lyman, SC is survived by his sisters, Joyce L. Andresen (Andy) of Newnan, GA; JoElin Gaffney of Wellford, SC; Janet Hill (Terry) of Chapin, SC; and Jayne Stevens of Tega Cay, SC; and two nephews and four nieces. He was predeceased by one nephew, Adam Stevens. Mr. Edwards was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Navy and was awarded many medals: among them, The Distinguished Flying Cross, the Vietnam service medal, 11 air strike medals, Navy Commendation Medal, and various campaign and service medals. He was self-employed and had a successful mortgage brokerage and real estate investment businesses. He was an avid gun enthusiast winning many marksmanship awards and enjoyed all forms of racing. He was a graduate of Clemson University. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Wood Memorial Park, 863 Gap Creek Rd., Duncan, SC. Visitation will be held after the service at the cemetery.
