James E. Hagerty, PhD Melbourne - James E. Hagerty, PhD, July 25, 1929 - February 8, 2018. Jim was a teacher, principal, superintendent of schools, educational consultant, and ardent Rotarian. His career in education was devoted to equal opportunity. Surviving him are his wife Marie, son Mark (Tracy Richardson), daughter Anne, grandson James, granddaughter Claire (Jesse Yager), and brothers Carroll and Jerry. Jim was an award-winning amateur writer of short stories, a student of history, a wood carver, and an inspiring father and grandfather. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. Donations in Jim's memory can be made to Rotary Club of Indialantic, PO Box 033134, Indialantic FL 32903.
