James Charles Harrelson

James Charles Harrelson (Jim, "Too-Tall," "Charming"), of Gastonia, NC, passed away on December 2, 2015. Jim was born in Lincolnton, NC, raised in Asheboro, educated at North Carolina State University, deployed as an Army Captain to Germany and Korea, worked as a textile executive, and served the United Way. Jim loved to play tennis and joke with friends. He left behind his wife Melanie; his daughters Tina Harrelson and her spouse Charli Jayson, Melissa Johnson and her spouse Tracy; stepson Cory Gordon and his spouse Shawna Mullen; grandchildren Jordan Johnson, Connor Johnson and Emma Gordon; sister-in-law Welta Harrelson; nephews Michael Harrelson and his wife Sharon, Mark Harrelson and his wife Tracey; grandnieces Amy Harrelson and Joanna Harrelson as well as innumerable friends, classmates, and colleagues. In what is the final review, listing the vitals that familiar people already know, or ticking off accomplishments friends can recite, seems too ignore the qualities that deem one memorable - the reasons we count someone a friend. Always gracious to others, always socially pleasing, but the most important quality was that everyone was glad to see him come in the door. Celebration services to be scheduled at a future date.
