James William “Jim” Howland, Jr., 67, of Walkertown, NC passed away peacefully Monday, December 27, 2021. A native of Cincinnati, OH, Jim was the husband of Virginia Henderson “Ginger” Howland and the son of James William Howland, Sr. and Marie Roden Howland, both deceased. Jim was a big man with an even bigger heart. He loved cooking for his family, giving bear hugs, and making friends everywhere he went. The joy of his life was being Ginger’s husband of 44 years, “Daddy” to his four kids and “Goopaw” to his seven grandbabies. Survivors include his wife, Ginger; children, Amy Howland, Brittany King and husband, Thomas, Eric Howland and wife, Rachel, Jill Newell and husband, Zac; grandchildren, Landon King, Skylar Howland, Mason King, Caleb Howland, Saylor King, Savannah Howland, and Sloane Newell; and sister, Patricia Dick. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Street. A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will be held 4:00PM Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Reynolda Church, Kernersville, NC with Gary Newell officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service on Saturday at the church. A service of committal, officiated by Pastor Barrett Johnson, will be held 2:00PM Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Kernersville, NC.
