James "Jay" Ethington

James “Jay” Ethington, 66, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023. The husband of Wanda Buntain Ethington, Jay was born October 31, 1956, to the late James C. Ethington and Yvonne Lay Sparks in Versailles, Kentucky. Dedicated to his wife of 45 years and children, Jay worked hard and loved hard to provide for his family. Aside from his years of work at the Woodford County Recycling Center, Jay loved to junk and fish. In addition to his wife, Wanda Buntain Ethington, Jay is survived by his children, Jamie (Jeff) Jones of Lexington, Jeffery Ethington of Frankfort, and James M. (Katherine) Ethington of Frankfort; a sister, Marie Barker of Lancaster; and his grandchildren, Alexander Jones, Madison Koch, and James Douglas Ethington. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, James C. Ethington and Yvonne Lay Sparks. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 2:00p until 5:00p on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd, Frankfort. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate.
