James "J.C." Johnson
August 24th, 1935 - August 11th, 2018
Kingsport – James Charlie “J.C.” Johnson, 82 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at his residence following an unexpected accident. Born in Hancock County, TN, J.C. had lived in Kingsport for most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired as a Warrant Officer with the Virginia National Guard. After retiring, he worked for BB&T Bank and First TN Human Resource Agency. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Johnson; parents, Edgar “Ted” Johnson and Cora Lee Winegar Johnson. J.C. is survived by his daughters, Sabrina Johnson, Kristie Brown and husband Greg and Shelia Bernard; son, Ron Bernard; grandsons, Josh Johnson and spouse Whitney and Andrew Brown; granddaughters, Gracie Brown and Maggie Brown; great-granddaughters, Parker and Kennedy Johnson; sister, Betty Horton; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Gary Thacker and Renee Armes. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joe Hill and Greg Brown officiating. A military graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson-Head Cemetery (Robinette Valley) with the American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 conducting the rites. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:55 p.m. Pallbearers will be Josh Johnson, Greg Brown, Andrew Brown, Ron Bernard, Dwight Palmer and Roger Good. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Thacker, Tim Herlihy and Danny Herlihy. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City is serving the Johnson family.
