James Johnston
April 10th, 1924 - February 3rd, 2014
James Richard (Dick) Johnston, born 1924 in Helena, Montana, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2014 at Viera Hospital. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1957, with duty on the U.S.S. Lexington during World War II. Following the navy, he was an aerospace engineer for TRW Systems at Kennedy Space Center and Patrick Air Force Base, retiring in 1986. He has been a faithful member of Holy Apostles Episcopal Church since 1960, serving as Treasurer, Senior Warden, and singing in the choir. He also sang barbershop music for many years in the SPEBSQSA. He was an enthusiastic golfer and poker player. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janette (Jan) Johnston, of Melbourne, daughters Carol Skelly and Anne Johnston, son-in-law Thomas Skelly, and grandchildren Eleanor (Nora) and Patrick Skelly. A memorial service will be held at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, 505 Grant Avenue, Satellite Beach, 32937 at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 7.
