James Killelea
December 21st, 1930 - July 27th, 2009
Sacred Heart Catholic Church Fri. July 31, 2009 8:00 am James Vincent Killelea James Vincent Killelea, born December 21, 1930, died July 27, 2009. James (Jim) was a loving husband, father of 4, brother of 8 siblings, all deceased (Rosemarie, Connie, Fran, Ray, Imelda, John, Tom) grandfather of 7, uncle and great-uncle. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Donna Killelea, and his children (Rich, Jeff, Chrissy and Lynette), and grandchildren (Michael, Ian, Hannah, Ava, Ryan, Logan, and Aiden). Jim was residing in Olympia, Washington at the time of his death. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Vincent and Leah Killelea. After serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, Jim began working at Argonne National Laboratories, where he was a dedicated employee for 40 years. He was a devout Catholic. Jim’s hobbies included golf, church, playing piano, camping, singing, and ballroom dancing (he started a ballroom dance club at Argonne, where he met Donna; they were married September 26, 1964). Jim was known and loved for his unique sense of humor (he was known for his puns and for playing practical jokes). He was a wonderful storyteller. Some of his favorite moments were spent vacationing with his family in Door County, Wisconsin (where he and Donna honeymooned). He was a classic movie buff, and was passionate about music: classical, ragtime, big band (Bing Crosby, Andrews sisters, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin). He was a nature-lover, and he enjoyed feeding and watching birds (especially his hummingbirds) until the very end. He enjoyed doing home projects, jigsaw puzzles, holidays (especially Christmas and Halloween), being at home with his family, good food (especially sweets), and his evening martini (with anchovy olives, of course!) Countless people will sorely miss his infectious laugh, his knack for deep conversation and nostalgia, his bear hugs, his genuine smile, his sarcasm and wit, his comforting presence, and his unconditional love. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Left Foot Organics, website www.leftfootorganics.org Family and friends are invited to make comments and share favorite memories about Jim by clicking on "View Guestbook" below.
