Edwards Memorial Funeral Homes - University Place
James Vincent Latteri
October 15th, 1941 - July 12th, 2012
Jim was born October 15, 1941 in Oneida, NY to Frances Roder and James Latteri. He passed away at home at the age of 70 on July 12, 2012. Jim served in the US Navy, both active duty and reserve totaling 22 years. Jim retired as a Sr. Chief from FISC Yokosuka at Bangor in September, 2001. Jim was a volunteer firefighter for Key Peninsula Fire District 16 for well over 20 years. Jim was also the owner of an appraisal company for many years and retired in 2009. Jim’s passion was climbing mountains and teaching real estate appraisal. Jim liked to stay busy; he climbed 43 of the highest peaks in the United States, as well as the high peaks in other countries. Jim was a volunteer coach (Track & Field and Cross Country) at Peninsula High School for a number of years. Jim became a “natural” at teaching because he truly cared if his students “got it” or not. Jim taught real estate appraisal for CNAREA all throughout Canada; many thanks to Steve and Maureen Coull for their support. Jim is survived by his wife, Gail; son, Jay; two brothers, Gary Weir (Karen) of Spring Texas; Paul Weir of San Diego, CA and a sister, Gail Travers (John) of Kirkland, WA, as well as many nieces and nephews. A special thank you goes to Dr. Francis Senecal, Dr. Andre Joseph, Dr. William Roes, Dean Shriner and the staff of Key Medical in Key Center. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30AM with visitation at 10:00AM, Friday July 20, 2012 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 3510 Rosedale Street Northwest, Gig Harbor, WA 98335 and burial to follow at Tahoma National Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Franciscan Hospice in Tacoma or Key Peninsula Fire Dept in Lakebay. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial 253-566-1008.
