James M. Lavery
May 26th, 1958 - November 4th, 2012
Mr. James M. Lavery, 54 years old, of Fonda, passed away Sunday morning, November 4, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a long, hard and courageous battle with cancer. He worked for the New York State Dept. of Transportation for 31 years until his sickness forced him into retirement. Jim was an avid hunter and spent every spare moment in the woods. He also was the life of any party and had a contagious laugh. He loved his pet chiwauhas. He is survived by: his wife, friend and soul mate, Brenda Manzer Snell Lavery; three children: Jamie Page Tim and Loribeth Lavery of Gloversville and Michael Lavery Candace of the State of Washington. He has nine grandchildren: T.J; Mackenzie, Luke and Maya Page, Kendra Lavery, Alanah and Tyree Wilson and Madeline and Gage VanVranken. He also has six stepchildren: Joe VanVranken, Robbie VanVranken, Jennifer Carabello, Jake Snell, Ryan Snell and Wayne Snell, Jr. Also surviving are six brothers and sisters: Brian Lavery Janice of Florida, Donna Lavery Cerasuolo of Gloversville, Sharon Lavery Molinari Dick of LasVegas, Pat Lavery Diane of Fonda, Bob Lavery Rocky of the State of Washington and Kathy Lavery Bradt Beaver of Meco; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his father, Donald Lavery in 1971, his mother, Arlene Rockwell in 2002 and a grandson, Caylob Medina in 2003. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 6 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will take place 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Rd; Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd; Loudonville, NY 12211.
