James (Jim) Leach of Summerville, SC passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the age of 73. Jim, born on November 5, 1943, was the child of Stella and BP Davis. He grew up as the eldest of three children in Richmond, Indiana and graduated from Richmond High School. He was a member of the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War aboard the USS Rennville. Jim continued his education at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Jim married Betty Measel in 1968, and they had one child. He worked at Belden Wire and Cable for thirty-seven years. Retirement was enjoyed in Richmond, Indiana before Jim and Betty moved to Summerville in 2011. Jim is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Betty Leach, his daughter, Angie Wiggins, his grandson, Jordan Wiggins, his sister, Jan Deer, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jeanie Davis. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 5:30 on Thursday, January 26 at Bethany United Methodist Church in Summerville, SC. A funeral service will follow immediately in Spell Chapel at 5:30. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Intrepid Hospice at 2964 Lake Park Dr. 2nd Floor, North Charleston, SC, 29406
