James Henry Lis

January 21st, 1954 - August 24th, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James H. Lis, 70, who departed from this world on August 24, 2024, in Springfield, MA, as a result of a motorcycle accident.  James was born on January 21, 1954, in Palmer, MA, a place he called home throughout his entire life. He was the beloved son of Frederick J. Lis and Marion (Fitzgerald) Lis, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his brother, Tom Lis.James was a proud graduate of Palmer High School. Following his education, he pursued a dedicated career as a machinist, holding positions at American Bosch, Warren Pump, and Tsubaki Chain, the latter of which he retired from.James's personal life was marked by his unwavering commitment to family and his passions. As a lifetime motorcycle rider and motor sports enthusiast, James found joy and freedom on the open road. He loved hunting and fishing, sharing these interests with friends and family. A current member of St. Stan’s Club in Three Rivers, his connection with the community was always close to his heart, though he never sought the spotlight for himself.He leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by his former wife, Sara Atwell, and their children: Matthew J. Lis, Nathan M. Lis, and Kymberli A. Bronson (Shawn). His grandchildren, Megan Lis, Kaitlynne Lis, Christin James "CJ" Lis, and Gage Costa, as well as his great-grandson, Solaris Lis, will carry his memory forward. He is also survived by his siblings Nancy, Gerald, Jan, and Angela Lis.Family and friends are invited to honor his life during the visitation on Saturday, August 31st, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital by visiting www.shrinerschildrens.org.

James Henry Lis will be remembered as a humble man who loved his passions and his family dearly. His memory will forever be cherished by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Jim was one of the humblest men I ever knew. All of our hearts are deeply saddened by this tragedy. He was taken away to soon as he had so many more years ahead of him. Fly high Jim. I will miss you and you will ALWAYS be in my heart.
