Mr. James Martin 'Jim' Losey Sr., age 94, of Winter Haven passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015. Mr. Losey was born in Springfield, Ohio, to Ernest and Evelyn Losey and had lived in this area since 1949, coming from Greenfield, Ohio. He was an Air Force veteran of WWII; in 1943 he was stationed in Los Angeles, California, where his job at that time was an Aero III Electrician. Jim spent the majority of his active life teaching children to ride hunter jumper horses including having the pleasure of seeing them do Professional Shows. He also did judging at horse shows. Mr. Losey's son, Marty also was asked to perform at Madison Square Gardens. He was awarded in Western Pleasure Class winning a Gold Medal by the American Quarter Horse Association and also winning top Reining Horse at the state level. Mr. Losey also owned & trained over 20 horses at a time at 'Cloverleaf Farms' which is a well-known horse training farm. In 1949 he started Refrigeration & Electric, Inc. of Winter Haven. He installed air conditioners in local churches, schools, government buildings, homes and several McDonald's. It was in 2000, Mr. Losey decided to retire and sold the business to Joe Strickler and it's still in business today. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lake Alfred. Mr. Losey was married to his wife Jean for over 60 years and together they enjoyed raising and selling Doberman Pinchers as well as traveling the world. Mr. Losey was fortunate in that he was able to retain a sound mind and able body until recently when he began to have health problems that led to him being homebound in the last 4 months. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean. Jim is survived by his son, James 'Marty' (Kay) Losey II of Haines City and his stepson Terry Losey of California. He is with his Lord and Savior, his wife Jean and will be sorely missed by the people in his life. Those so desiring may make donations to First United Methodist Church, 220 W.
