James Albert McGill

James "Jim" Albert McGill, age 91, of Pine Grove, CA, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Jim was born in Normangee, TX on February 24, 1924, a son of the late Emma Jane (McGee) and Albert Alcidus McGill. He came into this world blessed with 7 older sisters, who would forever refer to him as brother. Upon graduation from high school Jim would join the US Navy, beginning his career as an electrician. In 1945 while attending a USO dance in Modesto, CA Jim would fall for the beautiful Lela Howell. The two would marry that same year while Jim was still serving his country. Jim was honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1946. He would continue his career in the electrical industry retiring after 45 plus years as an electrical inspector at China Lake Naval Weapons Station in China Lake, CA. Jim and his bride of 70 years, Lela have resided in Pine Grove for the past 6 years where they have enjoyed living near their son, Wayne and his wife, Barbara. Jim's greatest joy was working around the house and gardening with Lela. He was a good man who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lela; son, Wayne McGill (Barbara); grandchildren, Joshua McGill, Aaron Martin, Walter Martin, Jennifer McGill, Valerie McGill; great grandchildren; and 3 sisters. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life Saturday, August 22, 2015, 2:00 P.M. located at the Kingdom Hall-Jehovah's Witness, 13954 Irishtown Rd. Pine Grove, CA. 95665. Interment will take place at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
