James D. McMillen
October 4th, 1954 - February 15th, 2013
James Douglas McMillen, born October 4, 1954 in Wiesbaden, Germany to George H and Leah R McMillen, passed away February 15, 2013 at his home in Tucson, Arizona. Jim graduated from Pima Community College as a respiratory therapist and worked at El Dorado Hospital and most recently at Southern Arizona Veterans Hospital. He loved helping his patients and looked out for them whenever he could. Jim was also a former Air National Guardsman, M/SGT with the 162nd Tactical Fighter Group as a Supply Sergeant. Jim loved being in the Guard and would be so today if health issues hadn't prevented it. Jim loved baseball, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates, children, music, fishing, and all animals including Unicorns. He was a loving husband and father who worshiped and adored his children. Jim leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Carol (Kay) McMillen; daughter Sarah McMillen of Tucson, Arizona; son Christopher of Scottsdale, Arizona; Three sisters: Jacqueline Phillips of Lynnwood, Washington, Paula Newell of Overland Park, Kansas, and Pamela McMillen of Glendale, Arizona, and one brother, George H. McMillen, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Twenty nieces and nephews and 19 grand-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. Jim was loved by all who knew him and will always be remembered for his wonderful quirky sense of humor. Those who knew him best knew he was a very thoughtful caring and giving person and he would except no less than friendship. He was truly a friend to all. Service will be at Bring's Broadway Chapel, Tucson, Arizona, February 22, 2013 at 11:00 am. A private viewing for family will precede the service at 10:00am. Friends and family are welcomed and encouraged to attend a rememberance gathering at Ramada Inn Foothills from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. In addition to and or in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society of your choice.
