James McPadden
April 27th, 1926 - March 5th, 2012
James “Jim” Kenneth McPadden, resident of Waconia, Minnesota, formerly of Mayer, MN passed away peacefully in Salinas, California surrounded by his family on Monday, March 5, 2012. Jim was born on April 27, 1926 in Mayer, Minnesota. Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was kind, loving and had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior. Jim served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He felt honored to go to Washington, D.C. to see the World War II Memorial. His favorite pastimes were playing the concertina, gardening and wood working. He was an accomplished cabinet maker for 50 years. Jim and Deloris (Carlson) were married in San Francisco on January 5, 1947. In 1957, Jim, Deloris and his family came to Salinas, CA where he worked for Streater’s Industries until 1971. His career then took him to Oregon, New York and Illinois before he and Deloris retired and moved back to Mayer, MN in 1978. In 2011, Jim and Deloris relocated to Waconia, MN where they are currently living at The Good Samaritan Westview Acres. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William and Esther (Volkenant) McPadden, sisters, Jean Hendricks and Muriel McPadden, brother, Dale McPadden and daughter-in-law, Marlene “Molly” (Schmakel) McPadden. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Deloris (Carlson) McPadden of Waconia, MN; son, Gary McPadden (Evelyn Budde) of Avon, MN; daughters, Carol McPadden and Barbara (Bill) Olea of Salinas; son, Steven (Kathleen Larson) McPadden of Salinas; granddaughter, Amy (Doug) Ash of Salinas; great-grandchildren, Lindsay Ash, step great-grandchildren, Blake Ash and Faith Houston of Salinas; Step grand children, Eric Olea and Christina Olea of Salinas; Step great grand children, Brianne Olea and Brandi Olea of Salinas; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many cherished friends. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 580 Larkin Street, Salinas, California. Funeral Services will be held in Waconia, MN. Jim will be laid to rest at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Watertown, Minnesota. Memorials can be made to donor’s favorite charity.
