James Richard Morris
August 21st, 1951 - May 29th, 2019
James Richard Morris, 67, passed away in peace with his family by his side Wednesday, May 29, 2019 in Salinas, CA following a brief illness. He is survived by his sons Jody (Arlene) Morris, Jason (Sandra) Morris, his daughter Cheyenne Morris, and his 7 grandchildren: Athena, Michael, Diego, Zaiden, Lyllionah, Peyton, and Ryker. Born in Arkansas, the son of Annabell McCurdy and Joseph Morris. James was one of 7 siblings. James who also went by Jim, Jimmy and later known by many as “Grandpa” moved to Salinas at a young age where he met the love of his life Jessica Lynn. They had children and enjoyed many activities together, such as camping and summer trips. Jimmy was an avid Bay area sports fan (49ers, Warriors, and Giants) and spent much of his free time watching his favorite teams and classic western movies. Jim worked hard as a truck driver throughout his career. After his retirement “Grandpa” chose to live life his way, and roamed the streets where he made countless friends. Over the last several years he enjoyed time with family while watching his grandchildren grow. Jim was a compassionate man that will be missed and was loved by many. A Celebration of life will be held at noon on Saturday June 15th at the New Life Church of the Nazarene located at 800 North Main St. Salinas, CA

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
