James A. "Jr." Moxley
April 23rd, 1947 - May 4th, 2021
James Arthur Moxley, Jr. (Junior) was born April 23, 1947 to the late James Arthur Moxley and Fannie Allen in Shelbyville, Kentucky. He went to his eternal home on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at home after a short illness. He accepted Christ as a child at Clay Street Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darryl Moxley, and his sister, Maurica Ellis. He attended Kentucky State University where he received his bachelor’s degree. He loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, and playing his guitar. He loved his children and grandchildren. He was a good neighbor and loved helping others. James was in the US Army for 21 years and served his country with honors. He received several Medals (National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and was to receive the Purple Heart Medal). He worked for Kentucky State University for 15 years as a Pool Operator and HVAC Tech. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 24 years, Emma Moxley of Frankfort; his sons, Jamie Moxley of Atlanta, GA; and Andre Moxley of Texas: his daughter, Angela (Noah) Mack of Shelbyville, KY; 4 step sons, Timothy Campbell of Frankfort, KY, James (Sandra) Campbell of Louisville, KY, George Campbell of Covington, KY, and Demetrius Moxley of Frankfort, KY; two sisters, Serita Slaughter, Bonnie (Mike) Jones of Shelbyville; two brothers, Ronald Allen of Louisville, KY, Shawn Allen of Shelbyville; one Aunt, Emma Moore, New Castle, KY; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, and 7 step great grandchildren. Mother-in-law, Thelma Taul, Frankfort, KY. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. We will all miss him, but God needed him more. A servant to his country, selfless man. No more pain, no more suffering, he fought the good fight. We thank the Lord for lending us James and this is not goodbye, it is seeing you soon. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Morton-Beckley Funeral Home in Shelbyville on Monday, May 10, 2021. Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd with Rev. Robert Marshall officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as casketbearers will be Timothy Campbell, Cory Wideman, Thomas Clay, Ronald Allen, Jamal Ellis, and Shawn Hunter. James Campbell and George Taul will be serving as an honorary casketbearers. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until the time of service on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd.
