Biography James Parman, age 85, a resident of Boynton Beach, FI. went to be with the Lord on December 29 while visiting with his niece, Mona Kern and her husband, Tom at their home in Cocoa Beach. James was a deeply religious man who read the Daily Bread and truly lived the tenets of his faith. He was always ready to help anyone in need and took care of his wife, Alice before she passed away in March 09. James was a WW II veteran who fought in the Infantry in the Normandy campaign and where he was wounded by artillery fire. Evacuated to the States, he had extensive surgery but always bore some of the shrapnel imbedded close to his spine. He made an excellent recovery and regained his physical abilities and began playing serious baseball but was advised to stop because of the risk to his spine from the war injuries. He then became active in golf for many years. James entered East Tennessee State University after the War and graduated earning a BA degree in Business Administration. A home town boy from Greeneville, Tennessee, he moved to Pompano Beach, Florida where he bought and operated his own barbershop for many years. James married Alice in 1967. He had only one child, David who was killed in a paraglide accident in Broward County. At the time he was a popular student at Pompano High School. Afterwards, James always considered his many nieces and nephews as his children and followed their lives closely. After his son's death, James moved to Boynton Beach and became involved in the real estate business. James suffered a disabling stroke in the 90's and was handicapped physically but remained active always. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. James is pre-deceased by his sisters and brothers: Guy Dean Parman, Mildred Runion, Maneita Bowers, and Clark Parman. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who he dearly loved: Mona Lisbeth Kern (Thomas) of Fla, Karen Lee Hinson of N.C., Christopher Dean Parman (Tracey) of Texas, Sylvia Berndt (Craig) of Alaska, Michael Runion of Tn., Roy Jr. Runion (Sandra) of Tn., Mable June Wilhoit (Ronnie) of Tn, Regina Conner (Harvey) of Tn, WH Bowers of Tn, Darlene Brooks (Lynn) of Tn, Gary Bowers of Tn, Lanny Parman (Lisa) otTn, and Linda Parman otTn.
