James Merle Ratterree was born September 29, 1924 in Brownsville, OR to James and Bessie (McDaniel) Ratterree. He attended Mohawk, High School. On November 11, 1943 in Marcola, OR, he married Erma E. Spicer. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific in the Sea Bees. During his working life he was a truck driver, hauling heavy equipment. His pastimes were hunting, fishing, working on a family ranch and he was a great gardener. He loved horses and enjoyed riding whenever he could. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Marcola Grange and the Springfield Elks. He is survived by his wife Erma E. Ratterree of Marcola; a daughter Sharon Wilkins and her husband Wiley A. Wilkins; two grandchildren, Wayne Ellis of Redmond, OR and Kim Wallace of Yreka, CA; and Two great grandchildren, Duke Lance and Clancee Lance both of Marcola, OR. A funeral followed by the burial will be held at 11:00am, Friday March 22, 2013 at Springfield Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Please make donations to Sacred Heart Hospice.
