My Life Story James Russell Ritchie, Sr. has joined our Lord and Savior and was reunited with his beloved wife Doris on August 13th, 2018. He was surrounded by his family and passed in his Eagle, Idaho home after a lengthy illness, at the age of 80 years. Jim was born in Oklahoma City, OK on April 11th, 1938 to Jack and Alta Mae Ritchie. Jim was surrounded by his 4 children, 2 daughters in-law, a son in-law, sister in-law, brother, 6 grand kids and other family friends as he stepped into the arms of his Savior. Prior to his passing, Jim’s brothers, Jack and Doug Ritchie, with Elaine, Doug’s wife, along with their son, Greg Ritchie and both of Greg’s children, Kimberly and Douglas, visited from California. Jim grew up in Oklahoma until his teen years when he and his family moved to California. There, he met his bride Doris and they married on October 24th, 1958. Jim worked hard, sometimes two jobs so that he could provide for his family and allow Doris to be a stay at home mom. Jim served our country in the Navy and after his time on the sea, he came home and married Doris. He then worked at anything he could, finally landing a great job with the phone company. He retired from there in 1990, and then moved to Idaho. Jim’s children all followed him to Idaho and live there now, as well. In his retirement years, Jim was an avid fisherman. Jim never stopped serving; he volunteered at the Corpus Christi shelter in downtown Boise, ID for many years until his health would no longer allow it. Jim is survived by his 4 children: Bobbie Schott, James Ritchie Jr. and his wife Margaret, Ronald Ritchie and his wife Teresa, Christie Wade and her husband Nick; brother Jack Ritchie, brother Doug Ritchie and his wife Elaine, mother in-law Leah Cole, sister in-law Betty Gardner along with 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Doris, both of his parents, Alta Mae and Jack Ritchie, and his eldest daughter’s husband Michael Schott. In lieu of flowers Jim’s desire is to have donations sent to Corpus Christi Day Shelter at 525 Americana, Boise, ID 83704, (208) 426-0039. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd., Meridian. A Memorial Mass will be held the following day at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 23, 2018 also at Holy Apostles Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest with his wife Doris at Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise at 1:30 PM on Thursday, August 23, 2018. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home. *See "Service Information" tab for service details.

We Entrusted James Ritchie, Sr.'s Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
