James E Sweeney

Jim Sweeney passed on March 24, 2016. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 24, 1932. He was married to the true love of his life Norma Lee Thatcher (deceased).. He is survived by a sister Sharon McGuire-Nemeyer, a daughter Susan Wyant, a son Joel Shane Sweeney, 10 grandchildren, Alisa McEntegart, Anthony McEntegart, Andrew McEntegart, Thomas Sweeney, Kyle Sweeney, Tyler Sweeney, Brooke Sweeney, Crystal Marlow, Cassandra Sweeney, and Zachary Sweeney to whom he was known as Poppy. He was preceded in life by his mother Margaret McGuire, father Clifford Sweeney, brother Donald Sweeney, son James D Sweeney, son Chris Sweeney and grandson Ryan Sweeney. Jim grew up in Western Hills, Ohio and served in the Army during the Korean war where he learned the early workings of data processing which would become his lifelong career. After serving in the army he worked for Cincinnati Gas and Electric were he met his love, Norma on the bus on the way to work. They were married on January 9, 1953 and had 4 children. They relocated to St Petersburg, Florida in 1963. He obtained a position with ECI in the computer department where he remained until his retirement. He was a great animal lover and will be missed by his fur-babies Winder and Stubbie. A gathering of memories will be held on Tuesday March 29, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Anderson-McQueen on 38th Ave N.
