James Wesley Tan

"Belchertown, James Wesley Tan, 22, a ten year resident of Belchertown, died suddenly on February 19th in Amherst. Born in Northampton, August 21st, 1990, he was the son of Will and Laura (Perry) Tan of Belchertown. He lived in Amherst before coming to Belchertown, and was a graduate of Belchertown High School. He was in his senior year at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Besides his parents, he will be deeply missed by his 3 siblings, Jeremy, Julia and Joshua, along with his grandparents, Leong Hong Tan & Fai Yoke Leong of Belchertown, and Sheila & George Perry of Weymouth, and his aunts, uncles and cousins. James was a genuine and kind young man with a bright future ahead of him. Through the ministry of Young Life, he was nurtured by the relationships he developed and greatly enjoyed the companionship he found. James was a part of many trips in ministry, deriving great satisfaction in serving the needy and was most fulfilled while working alongside his friends. These were his happiest times. A gathering to celebrate and honor James' life will be held at the College Church, 58 Pomeroy Terrace, Northampton at 2:00 pm on March 30th.
