James Trainor, Sr.
July 31st, 2016
James Franklin Trainor, Sr. of Satellite Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2016, with his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara, at his side. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children and their spouses, James & Lynn Trainor Jr., Marcy & Matthew Dolan, Teresa & George Smith, and Michael & Lauren Trainor. He is also survived by two brothers and their spouses, Tom & Jessie Trainor and Bob & Nina Trainor, sister-in-law Maxine Trainor, three grandsons, Ian, Christopher, and Marlon, as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in his death by his grandson Justin, and his younger brother Bill. James Trainor was a dedicated family man, an innovative pilot and mechanic, and a creative inventor. He was known for being quite a character, with many colorful stories from his lifelong adventures. He grew up in Lanesboro, Massachusetts, his parents, James & Myrtle Trainor, raising him and his three brothers on a farm. From 1951-1952, he served in the United States Army in Korea, during the Korean War. After returning from his service, he enrolled in Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Miami, Florida, where he completed his Aircraft and Engine License, and obtained his Pilot’s License. Jim was a gifted pilot, spending 43 years as a cropduster (or aerial applicator, as it later became known) providing services throughout the southeast US and in Nicaragua, as well as flying a variety of aircraft including seaplanes and helicopters. He was also a talented musician, who played the guitar, piano, and the accordion. He was also known for his lifelong collection, and creation, of “repurposed” things and gadgets. James Trainor was always the life of the party. But he was also a man who shared his wealth, and if he didn’t have any wealth, he could at least show you a good time! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will love him forever. The family would like to invite you to join them in a celebration and remembrance of Jim Trainor at Hogan’s Irish Bar 6600 N Atlantic Ave, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920 on August 20, 2016 from 2:00 until 7:00pm. Come enjoy a drink on Jim, have some food and a laugh, and bring a story to share! -In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to: Hospice of St. Francis, Inc. 1250-B Grumman Place Titusville, Florida 32780 Arrangements by FAMILY owned and operated Atlantic Mortuary & Cremation Service, Rockledge.
