James Patrick Waite
July 11th, 1950 - October 24th, 2013
Obituary Jim Waite, 63, of Fort Collins, passed away at his home after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Jim was born July 11, 1950 in Osaka, Japan to Patrick and Margaret Waite. Jim traveled around the world as a youngster and the family eventually settled in Salinas where Jim graduated high school. In 1973, he received a degree in Economics from the California State University, Stanislaus. Jim spent 36 years with the Longs Drug Store chain, coming to Fort Collins in 1985 to manage the LeMay Avenue store. After retiring from Longs, he became an Agent for Farmers Insurance Group and developed a reputation as an ethical and honest agent. He then became a banker for Chase Bank in Windsor and Fort Collins, retiring in 2012. Jim married his college sweetheart, Denise Genovese in Ft. Collins on the banks of the Poudre River. He enjoyed bird watching, fishing and was an accomplished photographer. Survivors include his wife, Denise, daughter Alicia (Geoff McBride) Waite, step-daughters Christy (Mike) Holmes and their daughter Lena, and Nikki (Ryan) Menda and their daughter Piper, sisters Mary Beth (Don) Miller and Patrice (Marla Camp) Waite and brother Tom (Deanna) Waite, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Josephs Catholic Church on Saturday, November 2 at 11:00 AM. Memorial contribution can be made to American Cancer Society or Pathways Hospice.
