Jane Jackson Cordes died peacefully Monday, October 1, 2007 at St. Anthony?s Hospital. Jane celebrated her 90th birthday on June 3, 2007. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Loral and T. Fred Jackson, MD. and raised in Dade City, Florida. Jane graduated from North Avenue Presbyterian School now Westminster School in Atlanta, Georgia, received her B.A. from Florida State College for Women in 1939, and obtained her Masters of Library Science from Emory University. At Emory, she met and married her husband John H. Cordes, Jr., MD. They moved to St. Petersburg in 1946 where John established his practice in pediatrics. He preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by her sister, Anne Hooten of Clearwater and her brother Tom Jackson, MD of Kentucky and their families; her four daughters and their husbands, Jane Anne and Ron Lees, Cathy and Bruce Hamilton, Susan and Rhyder McClure, and Cindy and Steve O?Hara; eight grandchildren, James B. Thompson, Jr., Julie Thompson Draper, Amy Erin Hamilton, Keith Eric Hamilton, Loral Ashley O?Hara, Caroline Anne O?Hara, Paul Stephen O?Hara, Jr., and Alexandra Catherine McClure; and six great-grandchildren, Jackson Cordes Thompson, James Simon Thompson, Margaret Anne Thompson, Emily Jane Draper, Charles Beckett Draper and Thompson Duane Draper. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007, 4:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 700 Beach Dr. NE, St. Petersburg. There will be a private burial ceremony on Sunday at Dade City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The St. Petersburg Free Clinic or First Presbyterian Church.
