Jane Grist

Jane Kidd Grist Mrs. Grist, 89, of Charlotte, died September 27, 2009 at her residence. She was born on February 22, 1920, in Charlotte, NC, daughter of the late Ralph V. Kidd, Sr. and Hazel B. Kidd. Mrs. Grist was educated in Mecklenburg County and graduated from Central High School and Queens College in Charlotte. She was active in numerous civic, service and social organizations. Mrs. Grist was a charter member of St. Ann?s Catholic Church, from which she and her family traveled extensively with Monsignor Richard Allen. She was a charter member and past president of Mecklenburg County Legal Auxillary and for many years for the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections as a Precinct Judge. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be remembered for her gentle and kind disposition. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on September 10, 2009, by her husband of 67 years, The Honorable William T. Grist, also brothers, Ralph V. Kidd, Jr. M.D. and William B. Kidd. Mrs. Grist is survived by her sons, William F. Grist and his wife, Linda, John Lawrence (Larry) Grist and his wife, Jean, and Thomas E. Grist and his wife, Joan; grandchildren, Daniel Grist, Taylor Grist, Meredith Grist, Martin Grist, Carson Grist, Cameron Grist, Garrett Grist, William (Will) Grist, and John Grist; nephews, Vincent Kidd, M.D., Gregg Kidd, Bobby Kidd, M.D., William Kidd, and Brad Kidd. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2009 St. Peter?s Catholic Church, 507 South Tryon St. Charlotte, NC 28202, where Mrs. Grist was baptized and married, with Reverend Timothy Reid, Celebrant. There will be a Rosary service Friday evening at 7:00 PM at St. Ann?s Catholic Church 3635 Park Rd. Charlotte, NC 28209 and the family will receive following. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to Holy Angels, 6600 Wilkinson Blvd. Belmont, NC 28012 or to the charity of your choice.
