Jane D. Warren
September 11th, 1933 - August 7th, 2024
Jane D. Warren of Greeley, Colorado passed away on the evening of August 7, 2024 at the University of Colorado Greeley Hospital. She was 90 years old. She and her twin brother John were born September 17, 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri. Their parents were Donald and Barbara (Pollock) Denton. Jane, John, known as Jack, and their younger sister Gail, were raised in Topeka, Kansas.
Jane attended the Kansas State College of Agriculture and Applied Science, now Kansas State University, in Manhattan, Kansas. She majored in Nutrition and was a proud member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. While at college, she met her future husband Russell Warren, known as Hugh, on a blind date. They married in Topeka on June 19, 1954. After he had graduated, Hugh had joined the army and was stationed in Atlanta. He almost missed his own wedding when he received new orders the day before he was supposed to go back to Kansas. Luckily, they worked it out and he made it to Topeka in time. Jane joined Hugh in Atlanta for two years. After Hugh left the army, the two spent several years in western Kansas, before moving to Greeley in 1961.
After moving to Greeley, Jane and Hugh decided to start a family. They adopted a son, Bruce, in 1963 and a daughter, Linda, in 1966. While Hugh started on a long career, mostly in banking and finance, Jane initially concentrated on raising the kids. When they were a little older, Jane started working as a teacher’s aid. After a few short stints at other schools, Jane found a home at Greeley Central High School. She worked there for many years as the switchboard operator. She was well loved by her coworkers, and was fondly known as the voice of Greeley Central. She retired in 1998. Hugh and Jane had 67 wonderful years together before he passed away in 2021.
Jane is survived by her son, Bruce (Dede) of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, her daughter Linda of Greeley, granddaughters Kourtney Becraft (Ryan) of Utah, and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, grandson Nick Warren of Massachusetts, great-grandsons Dayson, Reed, Hank and Ryder of Utah, and multiple nieces and nephews and their progeny. Jane is preceded in death by her husband Hugh, her brother Jack (Ava Lea), her sister Gail Noe (Dan) and sisters-in law Marge Adams (Ray) and Ruth Moyer (Ron).
