Janet Anderson

Janet Anderson Resident of Concord Oct. 27, 1954 Dec. 10, 2015 Janet Anderson, 61, passed away at her home in Concord, CA, on December 10, 2015, due to kidney failure. She was born in Bakersfield, CA, the third of six children of Charles and Joyce Anderson. Janet lived the majority of her life in the East Bay, residing at The Heritage in Concord and The Courtyards at Pine Creek in her later years. She lived with the health consequences of a childhood pituitary brain tumor and related treatments and complications for almost 50 years. She enjoyed participating at The Blind Centers in Concord and Pittsburg. Her sweetness of spirit and bright eyed smile defined her life and she gained friends wherever she lived. Jan loved music, crafts and reading and was an avid game player. In early childhood, Jan became a talented violinist and violist and was the youngest member of the Oakland Youth Orchestra. She retained that musical ability throughout her life and found tremendous joy in participating in many orchestras, chamber groups and choirs, such as at Diablo Valley College and Los Medanos College and with the Oakland Temple Hill Orchestra. Jan attended Ricks College in Idaho, and graduated from Heald Business College. While challenging health problems made her physical life difficult, she never complained, always maintained a positive attitude and faith in her Savior, and brightened the lives of those around her. She was cheerful, enthusiastic, cooperative and uncomplaining. Janet is survived by her mother, Joyce Anderson, of Walnut Creek; sister Patrice May, of Berkeley; and brothers, Jim Anderson of Sandy, Utah; Greg Anderson, of Concord; Eric Anderson, of Walnut Creek; and David Anderson of Draper, Utah. Janet was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral services will be held for her on Monday, December 21st, 11:00 a.m., at the LDS North Gate Chapel, 100 North Gate Road, Walnut Creek, California. Burial will be in Saint Johns, Arizona.
