Janet Doreen Catlin
September 25th, 1941 - March 12th, 2024
Janet was born September 25, 1941, in Las Animas, Colorado to Walter and Martha Lowe. The youngest of three children, Janet grew up in Las Animas, graduating with honors from Bent County High School in 1959. She attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, majoring in Business Administration. Janet married former high school classmate, William Catlin in 1963. They have shared an unbreakable bond for 60 years. During the early years of her marriage, Janet worked to help subsidize her husband’s remaining two quarters of schooling, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management. Janet was mother to two children, John William “Jack” and BethAnn. In addition, she adored and was a wonderful grandmother to Cody and Sydney. Her house had a wonderful playroom for her grandchildren and their friends and was used on many occasions. With the birth of children and a growing family, Janet devoted herself to raising her children and creating a home. Janet had a great passion for yard work and spent many hours caring for a maintained yard. She studied and had an exceptional talent for knowing what and where to plant flowers that bloomed at proper and sequential times. Janet spent a considerable amount of her spare time on art and craft projects, especially decorations for her children and grandchildren which included producing various costumes for grandchildren and even her adult children. The holidays were always special at the Catlin house as Janet had the house beautifully decorated in the spirit of Christmas and always loved Halloween and the special costumes that she made or that would come calling at her front door. Janet also had a passion for crossword, Sudoku and board games. Many board games were contested at the Catlin kitchen table. Her joy and laughter, when the house was full of people, was fun to watch. William’s career took him to many states and many countries. During their sixty years of marriage, she relocated her home nineteen times. Janet adjusted to each move with grace and was always able to adjust to the different cultures and make new friends. Janet was blessed with the ability to be a nurturing individual, especially with infants and young children. She exhibited this trait over and over again during the raising of her own children and those of her grandchildren. One of Janet’s most satisfying endeavors was providing a home for a neighbor’s baby daughter while the mother worked outside of her home. Celeste (Howard) Hammer was a premature baby that struggled to survive when she first entered this world. Celeste became part of the Catlin family lasting a duration of more than three years. The care and devotion given to Celeste approached that measure provided by her own mother. This loving duty came to an end when Janet’s family was transferred to another construction project. Decades have past and Celeste has since grown into adulthood and now has a family of her own. Care of Celeste typified the character and talent of Janet throughout her life. Later in Janet’s life, another endeavor occurred whereby she volunteered to baby sit a neighbor’s infant son. This relationship developed to a level where Cameron Cotton thought of Janet as his Grandmother. This relationship continued until Cameron graduated from college. During her life Janet had the opportunity and ability to travel, both domestically and internationally. Domestically her travels included considerable parts of the United States. Her foreign travels included parts of Europe, Asia, Africa’s Egypt and South Pacific’s New Zealand. Janet is survived by her husband, William; children, John (Nancy) Catlin of Boise, ID and Beth Ann Catlin of Meridian, ID; grandchildren, Cody Catlin of Richfield, UT and Sydney Catlin in her senior year at Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID; sister, Jean Decker of Gunnison, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Martha Lowe and brother, John Lowe (Jack). Janet’s life as a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and friend to many on earth was completed on March 12, 2024, at which time she traveled to heaven. You will be forever cherished and missed, but never forgotten. Rest in Peace in the arms of Jesus.

Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
