Janet Carol Weiss

Our sweet mother, Janet Weiss, passed away on April 24, 2024, at the age of 86. She was born to Edna and Ralph Rogers on January 3, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois. She was a very self- reliant, hardworking, independent woman who was very proud to have accomplished so many things on her own. She was a wonderful mother who loved her children very much. She made many sacrifices to ensure they were well taken care of. As a single parent, she worked very hard, sometimes having 2-3 jobs at a time while also going to school to obtain her nursing degree. But she was always there for her kids. 

She fell in love with Mountain Home while on a visit to see her daughter in 1998, and in 2000, she decided to make it her permanent home. She was an animal lover who had several dogs and cats over the years, (Maggie, Muffin, Henry, Daisy, Rosie, Lucy, Punkin and Rosco just to name a few). Grocery shopping trips always included bird seed and peanuts so she could keep up with feeding the neighborhood birds and squirrels every morning. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. She’d be happy to make a bet with anyone willing, and cheer on “her Vikes“ every chance she had. She lived many happy years here in Mountain Home. We will miss you so very, very much, Mom. But knowing that you are now with family members who you have missed for so long is a great comfort.  

She has left behind three of her four children, Bonnie Weiss and her children Joshua Weiss and Codi Verner; Robert Weiss and his children Mason Weiss and Heidi Diedrich (Sean); and Lori Ireland and her husband Ken Ireland and their children Kali Miller (Noah) and Zach Ireland; as well as many nieces and nephews and her special little pal, Rosco. We know that she is happy to have been welcomed into Heaven by her son Joe and her mother, aunt, sister, brother, sister-in-law, and grandson.
