Janice (Jan) Elaine Combs went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 8, 2024. She passed away peacefully after having family visiting with her to share their love, prayerful goodbyes, and the reassurance that she could let go to be in heaven. She was a member of the First Christian Church for over 60 years, was baptized, and had taken Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior over her life.

Jan was born in Loveland, Colorado at the old Loveland Memorial Hospital to Henry and Inez Steiner on February 1, 1942. She was a 2nd generation Loveland native who attended Truscott Elementary & Junior High and graduating from Loveland High School in May of 1960. Soon after, she married the love of her life for 62 years, Dennis Combs. After spending 7 wonderful years together as a couple, they decided to start a family. Their daughter Jackie was born in 1967 and Tom in 1972. Janice cherished both of her children and was a wonderful role model who demonstrated true unconditional love.

She was also a very dedicated, hardworking professional. She worked at Grey’s Café, then spent 19 years at Westlake Pharmacy/Hallmark Store, and then she finished her full-time career working for 25 years at Hewlett Packard in Loveland/Ft. Collins as a Senior Executive Assistant. After taking early retirement from HP, she had the opportunity to work part-time at the CSU early childhood center for 3 years where she loved being around kids! Jan’s personality naturally displayed a servant’s heart, and she had a reputation for getting things done right while demonstrating a strong work ethic through the many years of hard work.

Janice also had a life-long passion for riding/caring for horses & bowling for over 45+ years in her Loveland Women’s League & several years competing at the WNBC Championships in Reno, NV. She really enjoyed camping & fishing almost every weekend in the summer, playing some golf whenever she got a chance, and going to camp outs either with their Rascals RV club or with Dennis or with family. During her retirement years she fell in love with her new pug puppy named Molly! She cherished Molly and was able to stay active by taking her for daily walks! Jan also became a huge fan of watching or attending Rockies Baseball & Broncos Football with friends and family.

Jan’s one other love in life, other than her family, was the ability to travel whether it was by automobile, airplane, trains, or boats! She took every opportunity to travel to many different parts of the country while supporting Dennis in his trapshooting & cribbage tournaments. She also loved spending time with her kids and grandkids and taking them on special vacations to experience things she loved like horseback riding, golfing, camping/fishing, watching baseball, and boat rides or hanging out at Tom’s house on Horseshoe Lake. She loved to see their excitement and joy as they experienced things for the first time! Her most favorite travel escapades were highlighted by a cruise to Alaska, trip to Hawaii, Yellowstone & Glenwood family trips, going to Disneyland and/or visiting the beaches of Mexico with the grandkids, going to Iowa to see where Dennis grew up, and  one of the last memorable trips for her and Dennis was to be able to explore Scotland together!

She had a wonderful small group of friends from childhood, her bowling leagues, camping groups, and within the church over her lifetime. Everyone who knew Jan loved her and appreciated the kind, sweet, caring, and loyal friend she was to them, and her smile would lighten up anyone’s day! She was the best wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that anyone could ever ask for and she will be missed dearly! She was a blessing to all of us and the wonderful memories of her will be in our hearts forever.

Janice is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dennis Verni Combs (85), brother Dennis Steiner (Jan Avery), daughter Jacqueline Jackson (Shane), granddaughters Cassandra Palmer (Autumn) & Ava Combs, grandsons Shane Palmer (Mikayla) & Aiden Combs, step-granddaughter Alexis Jackson (Tyler), step-grandsons Ryan Jackson (Cindy) & Jordan Jackson, and great-grandsons Ivan Bauer & Evan Kaufman, and a great-granddaughter Krea Kaufman. Janice is also preceded in death by her parents Henry & Inez Steiner and her son Thomas Combs, along with many aunts, uncles, & cousins.

A Celebration of Life service and reception will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church at 2000 N. Lincoln Avenue, Loveland, Colorado 80538. A light lunch with small sandwiches and finger foods will be provided during the reception at the church facilities. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Dementia/Alzheimer's Association Research Fund at  https://www.alz.org  Thank you to everyone who loved her!
