Janice Elizabeth [Taylor] Horner was born at 6:00 A.M. on Sunday, February 12, 1939 in Punta Gorda, Florida, to Ezra Thomas Taylor [originally of Lyons, Georgia] and to Dorothy Elizabeth [Malone] Taylor [born and raised in Punta Gorda, Florida]. Janice completed her course upon this Earth and finished her race on Sunday morning, April 3, 2016, at 8:00 A.M. and received her Lord's, "Well done thou good and faithful servant for you have run with patience the race that was set before you and have completed your course and there is now 'A Crown Of Glory' laid up for you in Heaven" and for all those who love their Lord's appearing. She attended The First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda during her growing-up years. When she reached the age of accountability, she recognized that she was a sinner in need of a Savior and made her first public confession of faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Janice was then baptized by the Reverend James F. Price, pastor, and became a member of The First Baptist Church and remained so until she and her husband later moved from the area. Janice attended Charlotte County Schools including: Punta Gorda Elementary School and Charlotte County High School--from which she graduated with honors--" The 1957 Class Salutatorian". Janice had pursued business courses while in high school. She was, also, an active member of "The Future Nurses Association" (FNA) and volunteered as a "Candy-Striper" at Charlotte County Hospital as a part of her FNA membership. Janice had known from an early age that her dream was to one day grow-up and become a nurse because she felt a great deal of empathy for all those who were suffering and in pain. Janice later followed her lifelong career dream into nursing beginning as a CNA, LPN and RN up until her retirement. Janice was preceded in death by both of her parents, Ezra and Dorothy Taylor. Janice was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Julion Harmon Horner. Janice was sadly also preceded in death by three of her five children including: Pamela Lynn Horner; Julion Kevin Horner and David Thomas Horner. Janice is survived by her two sisters: Esther Taylor Howell, Port Charlotte, Florida and Evelyne Therese [Taylor] Henderson [Reese John]; Talbott, Tennessee. Janice is survived by two of her children and their spouses: Robin Elaine [Horner] Bergstrom [Micheal]; and Randall Lynn Horner [Ann]. Janice is also survived by a total of 10 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren and with 2 more Great-Grandsons now on-the-way. Janice was always lovingly known as "Granny" to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren--who were all the joy and light of her life. During the last year of her life, Janice loved nothing more than having the chance to spend time with all of her son's family--while getting to enjoy a great outdoor home-cooked barbeque with her being surrounded on all sides by her loved ones.
