Janice Charlene Phelan
July 23rd, 1946 - April 23rd, 2021
On Friday, April 23, 2021, Janice Charlene (Ryan) Phelan passed away at the age of 74 in Meridian, Idaho. Jan was born July 23, 1946 to William (Bill) and Lois Ryan in Boise, Idaho. She graduated from Boise High School in 1964, attending BJC for one semester. In 1965, she married LeRoy Phelan in Boise, Idaho. They moved to California where LeRoy worked at Sharp Army Depot and Fort Ord, while Jan worked for Creative World. They then moved back to Idaho for one year, and then off to Colorado for a couple of years until finally settling back home in Idaho, where LeRoy worked for Gem Communications and Jan worked as a manager for Fabricland. Becoming more active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served in several callings including Relief Society Counselor, Relief Society President, Ordinance Worker at the Boise Temple, and Missionary Housing. During this time, she continued her passion for crafts and quilting, enjoying time spent with close friends who loved to do the same. Her other favorite pastimes were reading and baking, and always trying out new recipes for LeRoy to taste test. Jan is survived by her husband LeRoy Phelan of 56 years, one brother Pat (Pattie) Ryan of Eugene, Oregon, her daughter, Robyn (Tom) Caperon of Boise; grandchildren Colby (Amanda) Caperon of Boise, Kylee Caperon of Boise, Sadie Caperon of Boise, Phoebe Caperon of Boise; great grandchildren, Derek, Jonathon, Clara, and Hadley. She was preceded in death by parents and one brother, Bill, Lois, and Tom.
