Jay "Poppy" Thomas William Crandell

Jay Thomas William Crandell, 44, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away on July 30, 2022 at home. Born on May 26, 1978 to David J. and Emma Jean (Pallien) Crandell, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Fonda-Fultonville High School. Jay worked for 20 years as a Contractor for Bill’s Beverage in Amsterdam. He was well known and throughout the community, and was liked and loved by everyone he met. If anyone needed help, Jay would always lend a hand whenever he could. Throughout his life, Jay enjoyed going fishing, spending Sundays at the park with his family, and attending community events. He was a loving husband to Kelly Crandall for 26 years, a dedicated father to their nine children, and a great friend to countless others. Sadly, Jay’s struggle with addiction slowly consumed him. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him. Jay leaves behind his loving family, including his wife, Kelly Crandell; his children, Dylan Tolson, Dylan Crandell, Alexieia Crandell, Faith Crandell, Jay Crandell Jr., and Julianna Crandell; his step-children, Mikayla Noack, Kris Noack, and Serria Thomas; his father, David J. Crandell; his siblings, David Crandell, Adam Crandell, and Beth Lyman; as well as many grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held privately, at the convenience of Jay’s family.
