Jay Thomas Gould
May 5th, 1944 - May 18th, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jay Thomas Gould on May 18, 2024. Jay resided in Satellite Beach, FL since the mid-1970s.
Jay was born on May 05, 1944, to the late Albert W. Gould and Olga M. Gould, nee Durik in McKeesport, PA. He is survived by his sisters, Gloria (Eugene) Tutera, Lois (Glenn) Clutter, nephews Michael (Janelle) Tutera, Ryan (Carey) Tutera, Marshall Clutter, great-nephews John and David Tutera, and cousins Maryjane (Larry) Zadonick, and Aaron Zadonick. He also leaves behind his beloved miniature Schnauzer, Conrad.
Jay graduated From Duquesne Sr. High School, received his B.S in Mathematics from Duquesne University, and his Masters of Mathematics from West Virginia University. Jay served our country in the Air Force Reserves and then in the Navy during the Vietnam War; he was honorably discharged from both branches. Prior to going into the Navy Jay was a mathematics instructor at West Virginia University, in the mid-1970s, Jay became a civil servant working at Patrick Air Force Base supporting Range Safety, he was a statistician at Warner-Robbins Air Force Base, and later returned to Patrick and worked at AFTAC until he retired. He also was an evening mathematics instructor at Brevard Community College for almost 30 years. His students loved him and knew he was the math Wiz.
Jay was a soft-spoken man that would go out of his way to make you smile whether you wanted to or not. He loved to be with family and friends and loved going out to eat. He will be deeply missed by his sisters, family, and friends.
Services will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 U.S. Highway 1, North Mims, Florida 32754 on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
