Jean R. Brown, loving mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord, passing peacefully on July 6, 2024. She was 95 years old.

Jean lived in many places during her life.  When her father became a Chaplain in the U.S. Army in June 1941, the family moved to California.  After college, Jean became a “Stewardess” (Flight Attendant) and flew for the Airlines for almost two years when she met and married her first husband Bill, who was in the Army. They were stationed in Germany for many years and then in Oahu, Hawaii.  They had two children. After Bill’s untimely death from cancer, Jean and her children moved back to California to be near her parents, and she got a job with the Telephone Company.

Jean then met and married Lyle, and they were married for 49 years. They loved Sports and attended countless Baseball and Football games. They also loved to travel to Florida to vacation and visit with Jean’s sister Lois and her family, including nieces Nancy, Kathie and nephew Ken and all of their families.  Hawaii was Jean’s favorite place, and she took many trips there over the years.  She and Lyle also enjoyed 18 cruises together.

Jean was a Christian with great faith and love for God. To say that Jean loved her family is an understatement.  Birthdays and Holidays were very important to her, and she was always planning celebrations. She was also active in Church, Sorority, Clipped Wings, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and playing Bridge with friends.

Jean is survived by her son David (Diane), daughter Janet (Gordon), grandsons Trevor, Kyle (Sara), Kevin and step-grandsons Geoff and Stephen (Danyce). She was preceded in death by husbands Bill and Lyle, step-daughter Kay, step-son Ronald, and sister Lois.

Funeral Services will be held at OAK PARK HILLS CHAPEL at 3111 N. Main St. in Walnut Creek, CA on Friday, July 19th at 11:00am. Friends and family may gather at 10:00 am for visiting. Jean will be laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California.
