Jean Hazel James

Jean Hazel Marie James (also known as mom, grandma, sister, friend, Bubbles), 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 10th 2021 with family by her side. Jean was born May 23, 1941 in Flint, MI to the late Roy and Ethel Renner. She grew up and attended school in the Montrose/Chesaning, MI area. A friend once said, “Jean was the kind of woman to give you the shirt off her back and her last penny”. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She adored her grandchildren and all their antics. She was a friend to everyone and will be deeply missed. Besides spending time with friends and family, Jean enjoyed dancing at the Grand Ole Opry, reading her daily newspaper and watching reality TV. She was an Elvis super-fan and an avid collector of all things owl related. Jean is survived by her two daughters; Regina(Roger) Poley and Bobbie(Garrett) McKinley, step-children; Don Lown, Ken Lown, and Michelle Garvey, grandchildren; Holly(Josh) Banks, Marky(Amy) Escamilla, Jesse Escamilla, Bailey McKinley, Alexis(Andrew) Carlton, great grandchildren; Cassidy Banks, Cheyenne Banks, Carrington Banks, Carleigh Banks, and soon to be born Amaya Escamilla, siblings; Mary(Tom) Gainer, Bea Cline, Tommy (Gail) Renner, Sonny Renner, Kelly Renner, Shelly Renner, Roy Renner, Geri May Sian, Sister in law Delores Renner, Brother in law; Jerry Ostipow, Bruce Whittier, step Mother; Geraldine Renner, and several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Matilda “Tillie” Whittier, Royetta Ostipow, brothers, Dick Renner, Chuck Renner, and sister in law Gloria Renner Cremation will take place and a private memorial will be held at a later date in Summer 2021.
