Jean Parsons
December 7th, 1922 - June 21st, 2011
Biography Kernersville-Jean Louise Darr Parsons, 88, passed away June 21, 2011. Graveside Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be held 12:30PM Tuesday June 28, 2011 at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband of 62 years James Roscoe Parsons. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Nellie Elizabeth Holden and Leo Altmeyer Darr. She and her husband Jim raised their four children in Santa Monica, California. Jean was the "June Cleaver" of Santa Monica; a devoted wife and mother to her four children. Being the consummate homemaker, she sewed costumes for her children's dancing performances and for Halloween, served as den mother for girl scouts and boy scouts, and cooked 3 hot meals each day for her husband and family. She also was her husband's "right hand gal", serving as his secretary in his business endeavors. After 27 years in Santa Monica, they moved to the Gulfport area, where they lived for 32 years. Following the death of her husband and the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Jean moved to Kernersville, NC to be near her youngest daughter, Diane. Her family will miss her dearly...her smile, her tenacity, her generosity, and her kind heart and love for everyone she came in contact with. In addition to her parents and husband she also was preceded in death by her brothers Albert Darr and Lee Darr, and nephew Tom McLellan. Survivors include her daughters Diane Parsons Bedgood and Harry of Kernersville, Lorraine Parsons Brown of Ventura, CA, and Barbara Jean Renison of Prineville, Oregon; son James Lee Parsons of Ventura, CA; grandchildren Brent Renison, Cliff Renison, Graelon Brown, Tannon Brown, Ebon Brown, Keith Renison, Ember Waage, Colleen Renison, Courtney Bedgood, James Parsons, William Parsons, and Brandon Bedgood; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Dennett of CA; sister in-law Dee Darr of Florida; niece Linda McLellan; great niece Teri Hajek, and great nephew Tom McLellan.
