Jean was born on May 17, 1923, to Harry W. Stride and Solina (Larson) Stride in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She grew up in Sioux Falls, attending schools there. After three years of college and uncertain what direction she should take, she took her mother’s advice and went to Los Angeles to become a stewardess for Western Airlines. After training, she was based in Denver, and flew to places such as Caspar and Great Falls. She met her future husband there, who also worked for the airlines. They were married in February of 1953. The new couple moved to George’s hometown of Breckenridge to run a grocery store and lived on the building’s second floor. This building on Main Street has been more recently renovated by their nephew and is called the Theobald Building. During that time two daughters were born. They returned to the Denver area when it was time for the kids to start school, eventually settling in Littleton. Jean was a homemaker, a mother, a Camp Fire Girl leader, an overseer of piano practice, and a great supporter of her family. She eventually returned to working outside the home and ended up staying in her position as secretary at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church until her retirement. Jean enjoyed traveling with George once the kids were grown. After retirement, she regularly went to the ACC Fitness Center and also enjoyed working in the “I Can Read” program with young children at Centennial Elementary. After George’s passing, she continued to live in her home of many years, until a fall resulted in her move into assisted living. She was loved and respected in this facility for her warm and wonderful smile, her cheerful nature, and her helpfulness. She will be missed. Jean is survived by her daughters Diane Theobald and Suzanne (Wayne) Angevine, sister Helen Kupka, and three nephews and their children.
