Jeanette Irene Imrie
May 26th, 1933 - August 10th, 2023
Jeanette Irene (Korver) Imrie passed away on August 10, 2023. She was born at Ft. Lewis Hospital on May 26, 1933 to parents Pauline Gladys Joy (Anderson) and James Korver. She was soon followed by brothers Richard and Robert. The family lived in various locations throughout Tacoma with a 6-month stay in Aberdeen during the war that Jeanette described as the happiest of her childhood. She graduated from Lincoln High in 1951 and entered nursing school at Tacoma General Hospital, graduating from there in 1954. After her parents had divorced, her mother married Raymond Kepner and Jeanette finally got a baby sister, Paula Rae. Jeanette moved to San Jose, California with other nursing friends. There she met Stuart Thomas McQueen Imrie. They were married in January 1961 and welcomed their first child, Linda Joy in June of that year. They soon purchased a house on Kimberly Court and by 1964, they had 2 more girls, Caroline Louise and Kathleen Marie. Their son Neil McQueen followed in 1968. The family lived in San Jose until 1977 when everyone moved to Bonney Lake, Washington including Stuart’s parents. Jeanette was a nurse following graduation until finally retiring in 1998. She was mainly employed at Auburn General Hospital and her last 5 years were at Rainier State School in Buckley. Jeanette was passionate about UW Husky football, opera, and ballet. She became more involved in her church during retirement and hosted weekly prayer meetings at her house. Jeanette and Stuart were thrilled to welcome 7 grandchildren along with Neil’s stepdaughter and her 3 children. When Stuart died in 2014, Caroline took Jeanette to an animal shelter where they found a terrier named Penny. They were inseparable and Penny brought much joy to Jeanette’s life. She is survived by her sister Paula (Jeff) Pielak and their children Lindsey and Shelby, daughters Linda (Doug) Wampach and their children Mary and Brian, Caroline Cook and daughters Cassandra (Jon) Miller and son Bruce, Rowan (Kyle) Martin-Cora, Kathleen (Sam) Eldersveld and her children Jenny (Tyler) Helm, Jack, Max, and Gwen, Michelle (Jeff) Sprague, and Cooper Maris, and her son Neil (Sherry) Imrie with her daughter Robin and children Curtis, Abbey, and Jessica. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 29, 2023 at 3:30pm at Plateau Community Church, 920 Roosevelt Ave, Enumclaw, WA 98022. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jeanette’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
