Jeannette Forsman

Jeannette Forsman Jeannette Elizabeth Forsman, a long-time resident of Eugene, Oregon, passed away in the loving company of her family on May 6, 2017. A native Oregonian, she was born on March 7, 1925 in Springfield, Oregon. She attended Mt. Vernon Elementary, St. Mary's High School, and earned a B.A. degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon. She married Nels Bennett Forsman on May 3, 1947 in Eugene, Oregon and together they had six rowdy boys that she dearly loved. After raising her family she joined the professional ranks as a secretary for the University of Oregon from 1971 to 1978. Upon retiring she spent many hours volunteering for many charitable organizations. She was also one of the earliest members of St. Paul Catholic Church and a long-time member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas. She loved spending time with her family, attending church and volunteering her time to help others. Jeannette was also an avid gardener, reader, crossword puzzler and played in multiple bridge groups. She is survived by her sons; Eric (Monica), Pete (Becky), Joe (Jean), Tom (Janet), and Richard, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Nels, youngest son Steve and her two sisters, Cleora Mersdorf and Roine Dillingham. Her Vigil will be on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Poole-Larsen Funeral Home, 225 S. Danebo Ave, Eugene, Oregon. A Funeral Mass in her honor will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception at St. Paul's Catholic Church. A committal will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery following reception at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Jeannette's name to St. Vincent DePaul or Carmel of Maria Regina.
