Jeff Lee Hubler

June 24th, 1942 - August 27th, 2024

Belchertown - Jeff L. Hubler, 82, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024. He was born June 24, 1942 in Lancaster Pennsylvania, son of Miles J. and Beulah (Moser) Hubler. Jeff moved to Belchertown in his teens, marrying his high school sweetheart Elaine. Obtaining a degree from UMASS Stockbridge, School of Agriculture, he worked in landscaping and municipal road maintenance. In his spare time, he was a farmer, canning, pickling and/or sharing his produce, always tending multiple gardens, fruit trees and berries, sometimes owning livestock, cutting trees for wood/heat, always working the land. His favorite pastimes included making saur kraut, playing cribbage or kings corner, early morning walks, pruning shrubbery, traveling, camping, word finder puzzle books and square dancing. Attending Hope United Methodist Church, he enjoyed bible study and serving as greeter. During the week, he could typically be found having lunch at the Belchertown Senior Center.  He will be missed by his sister Charlotte (Hubler) Couchon & brother-in-law Phil, companion & long-time family friend, Loanne Hatt, son-in-law John Alix, three children; Gwen Hubler, Darren Hubler & wife Liz, Doug Hubler & wife Amy, nine grandchildren; Jon Lee, Becca, Tim, Cody, Shelby, Kyle, Brendon, Aaron, Alex, a great granddaughter DJ (Darlene Julia), many nieces, nephews as well as local friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger sister Gloria (Hubler) Nichols, loving wife Elaine (Purrington) Hubler and eldest daughter, Darlene (Hubler) Alix. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept 28, 2024, 10:00am at Four Corners Cemetery in Palmer. Calling hours will be Friday Sept 27, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Donations in his memory may be made to VNA & Hospice of Cooley Dickinson Hospice, 168 Industrial Dr., Northampton, MA 01060.
