Jeffery A. Eppel, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, May 14th, the day after celebrating his 81st birthday. Born on May 13, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jeff was the beloved son of Loren and Madeline Eppel.
After graduating high school, Jeff proudly joined the Marine Corps and served his country. He embodied the values of dedication and courage throughout his life. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Judie, and together they built a beautiful family, welcoming four children into their lives.
Jeff and Judie moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1976 where Jeff helped open the Longmont and Loveland King Soopers stores. He retired in 2003 from the Fort Collins store on Taft Hill Road. Jeff was known for his friendly demeanor and great sense of humor, which were appreciated by customers and colleagues alike.
Jeff was a very talented sign-maker. He made banners and signs for Loveland High School sporting events, their weight room, and many local businesses, including King Soopers. He also helped to restore and paint designs on the little train at North Lake Park.
Jeff was a man of many talents and passions but he loved sports, especially the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Colorado Avalanche. He was an avid golfer and bowler, and a member of the Loveland Men's Golf Association and Loveland Men's Bowling League for over 40 years. But above all, Jeff loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a playful spirit and a kind heart, and he would never turn down a good ice cream cone.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Madeline, his nephew, Anthony Abrahamson, his niece, Natalie Abrahamson, and his uncles. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judie Eppel; his sister, Suzanne Abrahamson; his loving children, Steve (Deb) Eppel, Shawn Eppel, Quinn (Jessica) Eppel, and Stephanie Martin; his cherished grandchildren, Blaine (Danette) Eppel, Kelci (Michael) Jones, Derek (Veronica) Eppel, Melanie Martin, Austin Eppel, Jett Black, Eli Eppel, and Kole Black; and his adored great-grandchildren, Devin Weber, Jazlynne Gonzalez, Paxton Eppel, Aubree Farley, Wrigley Jones, Laynie Eppel, Waelynn Jones, and Waco Jones; as well as many other nieces, nephews and extended family.
Jeffery A. Eppel's memory will live on through his legacy of love, kindness, and creativity, forever held dear by those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. His family and friends will deeply miss him and lovingly reminisce about him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 19th, 2024 at North Lake Park in the Hammond Amphitheater in Loveland, Colorado from 4pm to 8pm.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Jeff’s name to: The Wounded Warrior Project or Toys For Tots Foundation.
