Jeffery (Jeff) Glen Coker, 67, of Sandy Run, South Carolina, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 21, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
The family will accept family and friends on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, South Carolina. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Sandy Run, South Carolina.
Jeff was born January 9th, 1957, in Key West, Florida, to Don and Glenda Coker. He was the second of five boys to Don and Glenda. Jeff was predeceased in death by his parents and his brother, Donnie. He is survived by three brothers, Terry, Dennis, and Gene.
Jeff married Dianne Spires of Sandy Run on June 27, 1981. They were blessed with two children, Kayla and Chase (Jess), whom he cherished, loved, and was so very proud of.
Jeff was a 1975 graduate of Airport High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Limestone College in 1986. Jeff retired from NCR of West Columbia in 1992 and later worked for Diamond Pet Food in Gaston until he permanently retired.
After marrying his wife, they made their home in Sandy Run where he loved the outdoors. For many years, Jeff was an avid hunter and fisherman. Additionally, Jeff was a 35-year volunteer of the Station 31 Sandy Run Fire Department and held many roles throughout his tenure. Jeff was an avid Gamecock fan and attended games with family for many years. He also had a passion for NASCAR, attending Darlington races annually with friends and family. He was appointed and served on the Sandy Run Fire Commission.
Jeff will deeply be missed by not only his wife and children, but also his daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, brother and sister-in-law, brothers, special nephews and nieces, a great nephew as well as many other friends and family members.
The family would like to thank the members of Station 31 Sandy Run Fire Department for going above and beyond to honor Jeff.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the Station 31 Sandy Run Calhoun County Fire Department or Mt. Zion United Methodist Church both in Sandy Run, South Carolina.
