Jeffrey Berger

JEFFREY JOHN BERGER Jeffrey John Berger died at home on April 9, 2017. He started life in Madison, Wisconsin; the third child of Phyllis and Rolland Berger, born on February 19, 1952. While Milwaukee was his home during most of his youth, his family moved to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania when he was in high school. Being involved in the German club, on the wrestling team, and with the Key club, an organization dedicated to developing leadership through service to others, were the activities he most enjoyed while in school. Jeff attended several colleges after high school; receiving an associate of arts degree from Yuba College and earning a bachelor's degree in business administration from Chico State. Food service was the industry in which he chose to spend most of his working life and he did almost every job from food preparation and cooking to managing several franchises. He always liked the idea of being his own boss. Working as an independent contractor for California Overnight gave him the flexibility he enjoyed and he developed friendships with many local business owners. Jeff had a great sense of humor and was a thoughtful and caring person who gave generously to organizations that helped animals and people in need. He will be missed by those who knew him but most deeply by his brother, Kirk Berger, and his sister, Jana Lawton, and his extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, and nephews. A memorial service will be held on April 22 and 5 p.m. at the Eagles Hall, 1940 Mulberry Street in Chico. Jeff was a loyal member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and for those who wish to do so, a memorial contribution in Jeff's name can be made to support the charitable work of the Eagles.
