Memorial

Jeffrey (Jeff) Bernard left us for a tee time in heaven this past Sunday morning. In the summer of 2020, Jeff was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor that quickly spread, impacting his independence, and ultimately ended his life much too early at age 57. Born to Myrna and John Bernard on August 14th, 1963 in Brainerd, Minnesota, Jeff had a natural talent for sports. He excelled at baseball in his youth and later enjoyed playing on recreational teams of basketball, baseball, softball, and one season of roller hockey, and his second wife in the game of golf. A graduate of Colorado State University, Jeff had a successful career as a Technology Sales Executive. He was a top Executive with several companies and earned several awards and recognitions. In 1987 Jeff married his college sweetheart Cherise, they were married for 33 years. Jeff’s greatest joy was being a father to his three children: Bryan (30), Michael (28), and Sara (24). His children’s best memories are from the times Jeff coached their sports teams or took them on family vacations; camping, fishing, skiing and most recently Universal Studios. Jeff was most at ease on the many summer weekends he took his family to float and fish the rivers of Colorado. It was there you would often find him relaxing with friends and family telling stories and enjoying the scenery of the mountains. Known as “Nardo” by his friends Jeff was blessed with an abundance of great friends. His many friends were a second family who stood by his side before and especially during his illness. It was friends and neighbors took Jeff to get coffee at the crack of dawn when he couldn’t drive himself. It was one of his oldest friends who drove him to Butte, Montana last fall so he could visit his mother and sisters. It was his friends from College who helped him and his family as his illness progressed. It was his friends from the Pinery Country Club who entertained him and helped pass the time when he was no longer able to get out. This community of friends rallied around Jeff throughout his life. We are so grateful for all of their support and for their continued friendship to our family. Our family is incredibly humbled by the love and support we have received during this difficult time.
