"Jeffrey M. Lucey, 23, of Michael Sears Road, died Tuesday at home. Born in Springfield, March 18, 1981, he was the son of Kevin and Joyce (Goodrich) Lucey with whom he lived. Jeff grew up in Belchertown and was a 1999 graduate of its high school. He played recreation basketball, soccer and baseball while in school and was also a former Cub Scout. After high school he enlisted as a Marine Reservist stationed in New Haven, CT. He spent time in Kuwait and Iraq from January through July of 2003 during the war. He was also a second year student at Holyoke Community College studying Business. Besides his parents he will be deeply missed by his two sisters, Debra Ann Lucey of Belchertown and Kelly Ann Murray and her husband Donald Murray of Palmer, and his long time girlfriend, Julie Proulx of Belchertown. He also leaves his maternal grandparents James and Theresa (Alves) Goodrich of Ludlow, his paternal grandmother Helen (Newell) Lucey of Northampton, an Aunt Ellen Kulig of S. Berwick, Maine, and an Uncle Jeremiah Lucey of Easthampton along with numerous family members. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St, Rte 202, followed by a mass in St. Francis Church at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will be in Island Pond Cemetery, Ludlow. Calling hours are Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The family requests that donations be made in his memory to Camp Sunshine, 35 Arcadia Road, Casco, Maine, a respite for children with life threatening diseases where he volunteered. "
