Jeffrey W. McConkey, 74, of Greeley, CO passed away June 2, 2015. He was born Sept. 12, 1940, to David Duane and Ruth McConkey in Argenta, Ill., on the back porch of his parents’ home. Jeffrey grew up the youngest of three children. He married Judy Beadleston in 1959, and they had three children. They later divorced. Jeff was an officer on the Fort Collins Police Department from 1970-1980. He was working in Mont., when he met Diane Luloff. They married on Sept. 12, 1986, and he became more than a stepfather to two more children. In 1984, while in Billings, Mont., he joined the U.S. Marshall’s Service, as a Special Deputy Marshall. In 1991, the family moved to Greeley, when Jeff was transferred to the Denver court system. He fought multiple health issues for many years. Jeffrey was a member of Highland Hills Free Will Baptist Church. He served on the board of advisors, sang in the choir, and sang special music with Diane. He loved the Lord, Jesus Christ with all his heart. He looked forward to that glad reunion day, when he would be reunited with his loved ones that have gone before, but mostly with his Lord. He fought the good fight. Jeff is survived by his wife of 28 years, Diane; sons, David (Janet) of Texas, and Jeffrey Dean "JD” (Dawn) of Greeley; stepdaughter, April Borland (Jason Adams); grandchildren, Caleb Brown and Robert McConkey of Texas, and Jakib McConkey of Kersey; step-grandchildren, Taylor and Abigail Borland of Greeley; sister, Marlene Betzer of Ill.; brother, David (Judy) of Fla.; uncle, Pete (Barb) McConkey of Ill.; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Marcy Brown McConkey; and stepson, Adam Luloff. Viewing will be held at 2 p.m., with service to follow at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Highland Hills Free Will Baptist Church, 2101 Fairway Ln., Greeley.
