Jeffrey Roderick Reid

Jeffrey Roderick Reid, Sr., 59,of West Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024. He finally won a courageous battle against Stage 4 Lung cancer.

Born on November 4,1964 in Columbia, South Carolina, Jeff was the only child of Howard and Rose (Seegars) Reid of Cayce, South Carolina. Jeff graduated from Brookland Cayce High School in 1983. Following high school, he attended Midlands Technical College, earning an electrical degree. After graduation, Jeff earned his license as a Master Electrician.

Jeff began his career in industrial electricity and manufacturing in 1983 with Anchor Continental-Columbia. He worked for Anchor for nineteen years before moving to Westinghouse Nuclear where he worked for twenty-two years. He was the Maintenance Mechanical Team Manager. To his colleagues, Jeff was a hard worker and always willing to help in any area of the plant. He was the very definition of a dedicated and loyal employee. 

Jeff was known and adored throughout the South Carolina hunting community, where his family and friends always considered him knowledgeable. Additionally, Jeff loved to fish the black waters of the Edisto River. He enjoyed camping and visiting the mountains with his wife, Page. He shared his passion of hobby trains with his children and grandchildren, being a collector for over fifty-five years. Jeff’s family noted that while traveling the state they often were unable to pass a field without hearing one or two hunting stories from his past.

His passion for hunting, fishing, and the outdoors was matched only by his dedication as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He has been described as a person who was always willing to give the shirt off his back and was a wonderful provider for his family. Jeff’s immediate and extended family greatly depended on him throughout the years. 

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Rose Reid. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of forty years, Page “Moore” Reid. He leaves behind daughters Megan Waters (Christopher); Caroline Reid (Cody); and son Jeffrey R. Reid Jr. (Lauren). He was blessed with four grandchildren: Paigelyn (Garrett), Aubrey (Jamarius), and Lukas Waters; Jeffrey “Tripp” R. Reid, III. He has one great grandson, Taytum Reid Thompson. Also left to cherish his memory is nephew, Myles White (Dee).

A visitation and memorial service will be held at State Street Baptist Church, 1420 State St, Cayce, SC 29033,  on Saturday, October 12, 2024. The visitation will begin at 2:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM.

Lastly, the family would like to share their appreciation to the community and churches that continue to pray for them. The family is forever grateful for the love and care shown by Jeff’s sister and brother-in-laws, Page’s parents, and many close friends who have visited regularly. Additionally, the family would like to thank Jeff’s medical team at Lexington Medical Center and the loving nurses and staff of Agape Hospice Care. Jeff will be greatly missed and his impact on everyone’s life will always be remembered.
